The summer is ALMOST over, but it’s not completely gone. The weather is still nice here at the shore. Not hot like in August, but perfect to enjoy a few late summer events. Here’s what you can do this weekend at the Jersey Shore:
Headlining this weekend is the Fosters Belmar Pro Surfing Competition. Surfers and fans alike come back to the 18th Ave. Beach on the same weekend each year because they know of Belmar’s welcoming reputation. Traveling pros recognize that this contest has a great history of waves. In the past, they’ve come from Central America, Australia, Brazil, Puerto Rico, Europe, South Africa, and all over the US. It’s a chance for young East Coast upstarts and New Jersey pro surfers to shine. Thousands of families from all over the state come down to catch professional athletes in action. The competitions runs all weekend, Friday to Sunday, and has a total purse of $25k.
The 34th Annual Festival of the Sea at Arnold and Bay Avenues, Downtown Point Pleasant Beach, on Saturday, Sep 18. Come enjoy food, wine, entertainment, arts and crafts, kiddie games and much more. Festival goes from 10am-7pm.
