The Point Pleasant Borough Environmental Commission is excited to announce that the 2011 Earth Day Celebration will be held at Riverfront Park. The 2011 event will be held on April 16th from 12pm to 4pm (raindate is April 17). This is the 8th Earth Day Celebration hosted by the Borough’s Environmental Commission and it is expected to be just as good, if not better than the rest. Part of the excitement is that this year’s event will be held at the picturesque Riverfront Park. Riverfront Park, which opened in 2010, possesses a beautiful vista of the Manasquan River and is the perfect venue for an event like this. The park is located at the corner of River Rd. and Maxson Ave.
The event showcases vendors of green products/ideas, environmental organizations, and local businesses. There will be games and rides for the kids as well as food and music for all. The theme for this year’s 4th and 5th Grade T-shirt poster contest is “Single Stream, It’s a Recycling Dream”, concentrating on single stream recycling.
The Commission is still accepting exhibitors and is always looking for sponsors and donations. Exhibitor and sponsor applications are located at http://www.env.ptboro.com/ed/ . All proceeds fund the annual scholarship awarded to a local high school senior, the savings bonds and prizes for the winners of the poster contest, and the operations and incidentals of the event itself.
