As spring seems to have finally come to the Jersey Shore, here are just a few events happening this coming weekend:
On Friday you can enjoy a Taste of Ocean Grove, from 5-8pm. Sample tastings from local restaurants, coffee shops, cheese shops and bakeries while enjoying the music of “Extra Innings”. Tickets are $15.
Saturday, the Riverfront Park hosts the 2011 Point Pleasant Borough Earth Day Celebration from 12-4pm. The event showcases vendors of green products/ideas, environmental organizations, and local businesses. There will be rides, games, and a petting zoo for the kids, and food and music for all.
Going South, you can enjoy the fun Doo Dah Parade in Ocean City. It’s a comedy parade complete with over 500 basset hounds starting at 12 noon on Asbury Ave, from 6th St. – 12th St. and then up to the Boardwalk ending at the Music Pier. And after the parade comes Pieasco – a mass pie in the face extravaganza!
Also Saturday, Asbury Park will host RunAPalooza, a running extravaganza featuring the Jersey Shore Relay Marathon, the Asbury Park Half Marathon and a Two Mile Walk.
Sunday at 1pm take your kids to the Seaside Heights Boardwalk for the Palm Sunday Egg Hunt! You’ll find a Boardwalk and Beach full of smiling faces and 15,000 pastel eggs filled with prizes from Boardwalk merchants. Age groups: 0-2 Hancock Ave., 3-4 Blaine Ave., 5-6 Sumner Ave., 7-8 Hamilton Ave., 9-10 Lincoln Ave.
To end the weekend, later on Sunday, from 6pm it’s the Belmar Art Walk, where you can walk the Downtown and enjoy works by local artists.
If you’re looking to rent a house at the shore, check out ShoreVacations.com, Jersey Shore’s biggest vacation rentals resource. It lists hundreds of rental homes and condos from Sandy Hook all the way down to Cape May (including Belmar, Point Pleasant, Seaside Heights, Ocean City, Long Beach Island, Atlantic City or the Wildwoods). It’s a one-stop website for planning your Jersey Shore vacation, featuring beach information, weather updates and more! And of course, it has a full list of all the Jersey Shore events this year.
