The major event of the weekend, running from Friday to Sunday, is the NJ State BBQ Championship & Anglesea Blues Festival in North Wildwood, a 3-day festival at 2nd & Olde New Jersey Ave. Enjoy smokin’ hot blues and lip smackin’ barbeque. Lots of food, vendors, entertainment & refreshments. The schedule is Fri: 4pm-11pm, Sat: 10am-11pm, Sun: 10am-6pm.
Thursday in Barnegat Light there’s a Sand Sculpting Contest: Build your own dream Castle. 25th Street & Ocean, 2pm.
Saturday, July 9th in Margate City it’s BeachStock 2011, The Planet’s Largest Beach Party at Granville & Beach, noon – 10pm. A day of tide, tunes and togetherness.
Also Saturday, in Beach Haven it’s the Beachfest Arts & Crafts Festival. One hundred quality artists and craftsman. Kids activities, food, music, fun.
We also have a lot of sports events this weekend. Wildwood Crest is the host of two events, both at the beach at Rambler Road, from 6pm: Friday, the Cape May County Lifeguard Championships. Beach patrols from Cape May County compete. Saturday, the Annual Swim for the Dolphins. One-mile ocean swim competition for beach patrol members and the general public.

- The Belmar 5: Annual 5-mile run around Belmar, starting at 8:30am from the Taylor Pavilion on Ocean Ave
- The Jersey Pride Triathlon in Asbury Park: 300m ocean swim, 10 mi bike, flat and fast thru Asbury Park and other scenic shore towns, 3 mi run, flat and on the boardwalk along the scenic Atlantic Ocean
- The Seaside Sprint Triathlon, starting at 6:50am on the Northend of Boardwalk & Hiering Ave beach area
