We were just hit with a snowstorm here at the Jersey Shore, but the shore is starting to get busy already. Don’t forget, THE JERSEY SHORE IS OPEN FOR BUSINESS! So here are a few events taking place during this mid-winter week (February 11-17, 2013):
On Thursday (Feb 14), the Paramount Theater on the Asbury Park Boardwalk is hosting an acoustic evening with Matisyahu (8pm).
This weekend it’s the Polar Bear Plunge Festival in Sea Isle City, hosted by La Costa. Friday there’s a King & Queen contest. Saturday starts with a costume contest at Noon, and then the plunge at the 40th St Beach at 2pm. Sunday it’s a polar bear run/walk for autism at 12:15pm.
Saturday, there’s another interesting concert at Resorts Casino in Atlantic City. Chubby Checker, who over 40 years ago exploded on to the music scene with his mega #1 hit “The Twist”, takes the stage at 9pm.
Also on Saturday, Atlantic City wishes you a Happy Lunar New Year! There is a 2pm parade along the Boardwalk from Showboat to Caesars, during which 3000 Free Gift Vouchers will be distributed. Don’t miss the 3:30pm Lion Dragon Dance at Bally’s Courtyard. Then from 4pm to Midnight there’s free admission to the Mini Chinatown Market Place at Bally’s Grand Ballroom. There are also 2 Lunar New Year shows at Circus Maximus Theater, 10pm and 2am.
If you’re looking to rent a house at the shore, check out ShoreVacations.com, Jersey Shore’s biggest vacation rentals resource. It lists hundreds of rental homes and condos from Sandy Hook all the way down to Cape May (including Belmar, Point Pleasant, Seaside Heights, Ocean City, Long Beach Island, Atlantic City or the Wildwoods). It’s a one-stop website for planning your Jersey Shore vacation, featuring beach information, weather updates and more! And of course, it has a full list of all the Jersey Shore events this year.
