The Jersey Shore Beach N Boat Fishing Tournament will hold its official launch event at the Captain’s Inn in Forked River, NJ on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM. Everyone is welcome to join the Beach N Boat team and Grace Hanlon, Executive Director, NJ Division of Travel and Tourism for what promises to be an exciting and fun event to celebrate the kick-off of an equally exciting and fun tournament season.
Captain Mike Young says, “We expect over 150 guests including sponsors, tackle shop representatives, business owners and anglers. As always, we’ll be giving some things away and the Bud Light Girls will be on hand to help out. As far as this years Tournament, we’re off to a great start with over 4,500 fishermen, fisherwomen and fisherkids signed up and the leaderboard is getting populated with Tautog and Stripers.”
Actually one 21.25 pound Striper to be exact caught by Nicholas Thorpe from Union Beach, NJ and weighed in at The Tackle Box on April 21st. Now is the time to get out and pick up a Tog during the early season before it closes April 30. After that, you will have to wait until July 17 when the season opens again to catch up with Manahawkin’s Bob Pianetti, first place and Roger Leith, Jr. from Cape May Court House in second and third places. The 11.01 pounder was weighed at Fisherman’s Headquarters on April 12th follow by Roger’s 9.21 and 8.45 pound fish on April 19th and measured at Off The Hook in Cape May.

The Jersey Shore Beach N Boat Fishing Tournament is a New Jersey statewide, season-long, inshore, saltwater fishing tournament that challenges fishermen, fisherwomen and fisherkids to compete for over $100,000 in cash and prizes between the Annual Tournament and Challenges. Participants can fish in saltwater from anywhere; beach, boat, jetty, canoe once or everyday for Stripers, Fluke, Weakfish, Black Drum, Bluefish, Kingfish, Tog and Sea Bass.
