“We hold much admiration for Waves for Water, not only for their work abroad, but for their work in our community following hurricane Sandy. Understanding how devastating a natural disaster is to a community, we are honored to support Waves for Water’s initiatives on-the-ground efforts in Haiti,” commented Marilyn Schlossbach, owner of Langosta Lounge and executive chef of the Marilyn Schlossbach Group.

With a mission to bring clean drinking water to every person in need, Waves for Water works to teach communities across the globe how to use portable water filters. In Haiti, the organization has been a multi-layered relief program with an expanded mission set beyond their primary focus of clean water.  To begin, Waves for Water will focus on providing access to clean drinking water to the hardest hit areas. Secondarily, Waves for Water will put attention towards stopping a potentially devastating Cholera outbreak in the weeks to come. In addition, the organization will leverage some of its US based partners and relationships to coordinate other urgently needed supplies and services (food, medical, etc).

Just over a week ago, Hurricane Matthew slammed into Haiti near the town of Les Anglais, on the island nation’s southwest coast, with winds of 145 miles per hour.  It became the first Category 4 storm to strike Haiti since 1964. With damage to the water and sanitation infrastructure, the risk of epidemics is very real.

The Come Together for Haiti free charitable event is available between 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 18 at Langosta Lounge, located in the Second Avenue Pavilion of the Asbury Park Boardwalk, 1000 Ocean Avenue, Asbury Park.  A $20 per-person donation is recommended for all attendees.  To learn more, please call Langosta Lounge at (732) 455-3275 or visit
